TRAINING TOURNAMENTS Next Event: Hove Junior Training Tournament Date: Saturday 15th March 2008 11am - 4pm Location: Parish Hall, St. Peter’s Church, Portland Road, Hove BN3 5GD (Directions: The entrance to the Parish Hall is on Tamworth Road. The Church is ¼ mile from Aldrington Train Station and one-third of the way from the eastern end of Portland Road. Buses #2, 2a, 7, 25a, 46, 46a, 49 & 49a pass by) The event will be run under the supervision of ECF National Chess Coach Christopher Dunworth. Training Tournaments are special events – a unique mixture of competition and training. Children will be split up into groups of around six of similar strength. They will then play the other five children (all-play-all) in their group. So they will play five games over the course of the day, with training in-between matches so that they learn new skills and make new friends. There will be prizes and certificates for all competitors. Training Tournaments are open to children aged from 5 to 15. Beginners are welcome. The fee per day is £20 payable by cash or cheque. This covers the cost of entry to the tournament, training in-between rounds, supervision and prizes / certificates.
